SCL Secures Multi-thread Research And Professional Education Program with Marine Corps Logistics Command

Primary tabs

The Georgia Tech Supply Chain & Logistics Institute (SCL) is pleased to have worked with the Georgia Tech Research Institute to secure a multi-thread research and professional education program with Marine Corps Logistics Command. SCL will collaborate with Georgia Tech Professional Education to develop and deliver a multi-year Workforce Development initiative. The program will entail classroom training (at Georgia Tech and Marine operations) as well as online classes.

Another thread addresses the need to design and implement advanced techniques in: (i) maintenance scheduling and operations; and (ii) inventory management, storage, and distribution. A team consisting of SCL professors Christos Alexopoulos, John-Paul Clarke, Dave Goldsman, Pinar Keskinocak, and Leon McGinnis will collaborate on the effort which will initially focus on depot activities and later grow to span the supply chain. The 6-month first phase will focus on creating a baseline workflow model to serve as basis on which to focus process improvement efforts. Phase 1 will also include creating initial model structures to set the stage for future, substantive optimization work in Phase 2.
