Primary tabs

Muneeb Zia and Rabia Zia received the Best Video Award at the finals of the 2018 Ideas to Serve (I2S) Competition. This event was held on April 12 in the Scheller College of Business Atrium.

Muneeb is a Ph.D. student in the Georgia Tech School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), who is advised by ECE Professor Muhannad S. Bakir, and Rabia is a recent graduate of Allama Iqbal Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan. They created a video that described a device that they invented called FetBeats. FetBeats aims to provide a convenient, stick on, wireless fetal ECG and maternal EMG monitoring patch that allows continuous hassle-free monitoring of fetal health and allows early detection of fetal distress. This device could be used in both home and clinical settings. To view the video, visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9KN1gHA43I

Team and individual finalists present solutions to pressing social, economic, and environmental challenges at the I2S Finals. The purpose of the event is to encourage creativity and entrepreneurship for the public good. The competition marks the end of a long journey in which participating teams have partnered with mentors from Scheller’s M.B.A. program and VentureLab, attended a competition boot camp, drafted an executive summary, and produced a 60-second pitch. Though the event features 18 finalists, all teams are invited to present their posters and compete for prizes.
