Joyce Allen Joins Georgia Department of Education Science Education Advisory Committee

Joyce Allen, Assistant Educational Coordinator for the National Nanotechnology Infrastructure Network (NNIN) at the Georgia Tech Institute for Electronics and Nanotechnology has been asked to join the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) Science Education Advisory Committee.  The committee, comprised of teachers, university professors, business, industry, and education stakeholders, is an important organization that provides feedback and support to the GaDOE regarding standards, curriculum, and policy.

At Georgia Tech, Joyce's role as NNIN coordinator includes planning, developing, and implementing educational outreach programs in nanotechnology and representing the NNIN Education and Outreach office at local and national conferences and meetings. She also helps to oversee programs such as the NNIN Research Experience for Teachers and Research Experience for Undergrads at Georgia Tech.

Joyce also serves on the Georgia Department of Education Science Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Advisory Group which offers the GaDOE STEM staff with suggestions on addressing STEM in the state of Georgia.
