Community Outreach Programs and Initiatives: Promoting Health at the Neighborhood Scale

Sheri Davis-Faulkner, PhD, Georgia Institute of Technology

Carolyn Aidman, PhD, Emory University

Rachel Berkowitz, Emory University

Community based outreach programs provide an opportunity to connect local residents and stakeholders with other key partners to create healthier places. Emory University and Georgia Tech are leading two initiatives which provide a model for these types of programs. Both programs share a common objective: fostering partnerships which support communities and residents located on the Westside of Atlanta. The work addresses issues such as access to healthy food, building a strong social support network, and economic stability to create sustainable, healthy communities in this area of the City. Please join us to hear the speakers share the details of their efforts and future goals.
