EMIL-SCS Tours Four Continents: On the Road with the Class of 2011

Primary tabs

The Executive Masters in International Logistics & Supply Chain Strategy (EMIL-SCS) class of 2011, the most international class in the history of the EMIL-SCS program, graduated with a Master’s in International Logistics on August 5, 2011, after completing five residences and a required global project.

The students met for two-weeks of intensive classes (residences) every three to four months, and participated via distance learning alternatives between residences.  In total, there are five EMIL-SCS residences: two residences in North America, and one residence each in Europe, Latin America, and Asia. Residences focus on the regional influences shaping logistics as well as topics like reverse logistics, labor relations, freight management, procurement, distribution, and warehousing.

In addition to the residences, the EMIL-SCS class is required to complete an 18-month, team-based Global Supply Chain Project.  Replacing the traditional thesis, each project is handpicked by a participant’s sponsor organization to address one of its current, real-world supply chain challenges.  Most projects provide a minimum savings of $1,000,000 and are designed to provide significant value to the sponsoring organizations.

The EMIL-SCS program, offered through Georgia Tech’s Stewart School of Industrial Engineering, prepares executives from the world's leading companies to face a multitude of global logistics and supply chain issues by teaching them to design creative logistics solutions while expanding their network of international government, industry, and academic contacts.
