There is an ideal form for the presentation of information. It's called the ABT (And, But, Therefore). It embodies three key forces: Agreement, Contradiction, Consequence. Randy Olson has spent 30 years studying it, developing it into the ABT Narrative Framework, written 12 books about it, and now teaching it to thousands of doctors and scientists, including here at Emory University for the Master of Science in Clinical Research (MSCR) and the Certificate Program in Translational Science (CPTS) for the past four years.
In his talk, Olson will explain how the ABT can help you address the three most important challenges in communication today (singularity, stakes, and audience) and will show you how a century of knowledge from Hollywood storytelling now provides the key insights for successful communication, which, like it or not, you can see at work in today's presidential administration.
