In its 2012 edition, released in March, U.S. News & World Report once again named the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISyE) the top-ranked graduate program of its kind, making this the 21st consecutive number one ranking for ISyE.

Also maintaining its ranking, the College of Engineering ranked No.4 for the seventh consecutive year, and nine other College of Engineering programs again ranked in the top 10: biomedical (No. 2), civil (No. 3), aerospace (No. 4), environmental (No. 5), electrical (No. 6), computer (No. 6), mechanical (No. 6), nuclear (No. 8) and materials (No. 8). Chemical engineering ranked just outside the top ten at No. 11.

“The sustained excellence of our College of Engineering rankings serve as a testament to our outstanding faculty, staff and students,” said Georgia Tech President G.P. “Bud” Peterson. “As we move forward to define our future, our excellence in architecture, engineering, business, science, and technology – and how they interface with public policy and the liberal arts – will continue to provide a unique resource for interdisciplinary innovation.”

Each year, U.S. News & World Report collects data from educational institutions and ranks the nation's top programs in each discipline using indicators such as program size, external reputation, student selectivity, faculty honors, and research activity. This year, nearly 200 doctorate-granting engineering schools surveyed provided data, with Georgia Tech coming out on top once again.
