Operation Books Redux: Inspired by the great library book passing of 1953
Primary tabs
Join us Friday, Oct. 29 at noon as the Georgia Tech Library celebrates 1953's "Operation Books" to mark the return of physical materials to the building.
This event, held in conjunction with the Georgia Tech Alumni Association and using resources furnished exclusively by the Georgia Tech Archives, will include a brief history of the original book passing from the Carnegie Building to Price Gilbert from Jennifer Rogers (HTS 07, MS HSTS 09), the association’s historian.
The original event -- which also took place on Oct. 29 -- included the entire freshman class of 1953 moving some 55,000 books as penance for "pranks" on the eve of the Tulane football game.
After remarks, feel free to join into the human chain placing the last 53 books back on the shelves of Price Gilbert for the Core Collection.
