As part of an ongoing recent partnership between Georgia Tech and the Woodruff Arts Center, and the Institute’s effort to provide opportunities for students to enjoy the city’s cultural institutions, students can delight in a free, art-filled evening with the second GT Night at the Woodruff Arts Center on Thursday, Feb. 17.

The event will include refreshments, performances and art from Tech students, access to the High Museum and a choice of attendance at one of two evening performances: the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra’s (ASO) concert of Liszt and Beethoven, or the Alliance Theatre’s “Carapace.” The High is currently showcasing the lithographs of Henri Toulouse-Latrec.

Kaitlyn Whiteside, a history, technology and science student who has played an integral role with the Student Government Association in organizing these nights, said the best part of the first GT Night at the Woodruff held last September was the showcase of Tech students.

“We had regular Woodruff patrons sneaking into our room to catch a glimpse of the wonderful singing and dancing that took place,” Whiteside said.

Whiteside hopes more students take advantage of the Woodruff Arts Center All-Access Student Season Pass, which enables students to enjoy unlimited reservations to events at the Woodruff. Passes will be on sale at the event and are also available at the Student Center box office.

All students are welcome to attend the evening’s array of events, and may bring guests if they, too, have BuzzCards. The first GT Night at the Woodruff drew more than 500 Yellow Jackets.

Additionally, submissions of stationary student art are still welcomed for display during the event. Students should contact Whiteside and are responsible for transporting pieces to and from the event.

GT Night at the Woodruff begins at 5 p.m.; ticketed events for the ASO and Alliance Theatre begin at 8 p.m. Stinger buses will loop from the Student Center to the Woodruff Arts Center from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and will also shuttle the return to campus at 10 p.m. Parking is available in the Woodruff Arts Center parking deck, or students may take MARTA to the Arts Center transit station.
