The 2017 Carbon Reduction Challenge winning team, Team Airbenders, realized a reduction in carbon dioxide of six million pounds and $240,000 over the 25 year lifespan of the project. They identified an air handler motor that was designed to run constantly at full speed. They implemented an upgrade to the system with a variable speed fan that is governed by occupancy and climate sensers. The team members were Samuel Pak, Deborah Hudson, Nelly Waura, and Stephen Gessler.
