Liam's Legacy: Collaborating with Communities to Create a Sustainable Atlanta

Primary tabs

The Liam's Legacy Symposium honors the memory of Liam Rattray, an outstanding and socially committed Georgia Tech Honors Program student who was tragically killed by a drunk driver just a few weeks after his graduation, in 2011. This annual event celebrates his life and draws on his legacy of engagement and activism. Join us this year as we bring together scholars and practitioners from Chicago, Cleveland, and Atlanta to ask: What might sustainability look like if we take "community" seriously?

The Symposium will feature keynote speakers Jody Kretzmann, co-founder of The Asset-based Community Development Institute at Northwestern University and Jenita McGowan, Chief Sustainability Officer for the City of Cleveland, followed by a panel discussion facilitated by Dr. Jennifer Hirsch, Director of Georgia Tech's Center for Serve-Learn-Sustain.  In addition to Jody Kretzman and Jenita McGowan will be joined by Stephanie Stuckey Benfield, Sustainability Director for the City of Atlanta and Chris Burke, Director of Community Relations for Georgia Tech.
