Register Now for Fall 3MT Competition

Primary tabs

Explain your thesis in three minutes — do you think you could rise to the challenge?

This is the idea behind the 3MT Competition that will be held for the first time this fall at Georgia Tech. The competition is open to currently enrolled Tech doctoral students who are actively engaged in research.

“3MT got its start at the University of Queensland and is now held at universities around the world. That’s why we’re so excited to host our own,” said Susan Cozzens, vice provost for Graduate Education and Faculty Development. “The goal of the competition is to get students to think about how to explain their research concisely — a valuable skill that everyone should possess.”

The winner of the competition will take home a $2,000 research travel grant with additional prize amounts ranging from $500-1,500.

Workshops to help students prepare for the competition will be held in September. The preliminary rounds will be held on Oct. 14 from 5-7 p.m. and on Oct. 22 from 3-5 p.m., with the final competition being held on Nov. 18 from 5-7 p.m.
