Dr. Flavio Fenton, Associate Professor in the School of Physics at Georgia Tech, chosen as the GoSTEM Faculty Fellow

Congratulations to Dr. Flavio Fenton for being chosen as the 2015-2016 GoSTEM Faculty Fellow. This initiative has been established for teaching faculty at Georgia Tech interested in increasing Latino cultural awareness and community building between Georgia Tech and other community organizations, through the GoSTEM program. We are looking forward to collaborating with Dr. Fenton during his tenure as the GoSTEM Faculty Fellow!

Flavio Fenton is a native of Mexico. After obtaining a bachelor in Physics from the National University of Mexico (UNAM) he came to the United States and received a Masters (1993) and a Ph.D. in Physics (1999) from Northeastern University in Boston. Flavio then had a post doctorate position at the Long Island Medical Center and at the Math department at Hofstra University in NY. From 2001 to 2006 he was the Director of Electrophysiology Research at The Heart Institute in Beth Israel Medical Center in NYC. Then he became a Research Associate at Cornell University’s Veterinary School and Biomedical Sciences department in Ithaca NY and in 2012 he joined Georgia Tech as an Associate Professor at the School of Physics. Prof. Fenton’s research is in nonlinear dynamics and complex systems with particular interest in their applications to Biology and Physiology.
