Parking and Transportation for Summer 2014

Primary tabs

Students who are enrolled for summer classes have a variety of parking and transportation options available for summer 2014. Here’s more information about prorated parking permits as well as the special reduced transit schedule.

Summer Parking

Students who currently own 2013-14 annual parking permits (Annual Individual, Annual Carpool, Evening/Weekend, Motorcycle and SmartPark) may use them through August 14, 2014.

Also, students may exchange their permits at no cost in the PTS office if they are moving to a new residence hall for the summer. All other exchanges require a $15 fee.

If students need new permits for the summer months, Parking and Transportation Services is currently selling 2013-14 Annual Individual, Evening/Weekend, SmartPark and Motorcycle Permits at prorated prices at driverseat.gatech.edu

To view the available parking zones, visit www.pts.gatech.edu and click “Parking Permit Availability.”

Normal parking regulations will be in effect during the summer. Students planning on leaving a car on campus this summer should call (404)385-PARK to find alternate parking.

2014-15 Parking Permit Purchases

Students may purchase 2014-2015 Annual Individual, Evening/Weekend, SmartPark, and Motorcycle Permits at driverseat.gatech.edu.

Annual Individual Permits will be sold first-come, first-served (based on classification). During their transaction, students will know immediately which parking lot they will be assigned to as well as their permit number. Permits sales will be open year-round; however, several locations may have limited availability as the year progresses.

Students are required to pay any existing citation fines at driverseat.gatech.edu before purchasing a permit. Students will be able to complete a permit purchase online; however, permits will not be mailed/released before all fines are paid.

Paying for Permits

Prices for the 2014-2015 parking permits available at driverseat.gatech.edu are:

  • Annual Individual Permit: $739
  • Carpool Permit: $639
  • Evening/Weekend Permit (5PM Access): $212
  • Evening /Weekend (4PM Access): $312
  • Evening/Weekend (3PM Access): $412
  • Evening/Weekend (2PM Access): $512
  • Motorcycle Permit (primary vehicle): $128
  • SmartPark Permit: $25 (plus $6 per entry from BuzzCard)

All student payments will be transferred to the Bursar’s office to be paid with fall 2014 tuition and fees.

Wait Lists Opened April 21

Because permits are sold first come, first serve, many of the high-demand parking locations may be sold out early. Students may add themselves to permit wait lists for unavailable locations for the chance to park there later in the 2014-2015 academic year. Once space is available, students will be notified of their right to purchase permits for their wait list locations. Wait lists are open year-round and carry over year to year.

Summer Transit Schedule

The reduced summer transit schedule will begin on Monday, May 5. Visit www.pts.gatech.edu to view the summer transit accommodations for the Stinger buses, Tech Trolleys, Weekend Grocery Shuttle, Emory Shuttle and Midnight Rambler.

Stingerette

Stingerette will operate as normal. It will be available for rides between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. each night. Call 5-RIDE (404-385-7433) or visit www.stingerette.com to schedule a ride.

Have a safe and enjoyable summer.
