Innovation in Lignocellusic Materials

Primary tabs

This half-day workshop, led by Dr. Art Ragauskas (IPST, ChBE) and Dr. Preet Singh (MSE), will discuss the research strengths, opportunities, and collaborations in the development of biofuels from forestry products.

Objectives
» Develop interest in the Georgia Tech scientific community in the potential for lignocellulose-based materials and biofuels to meet emerging biorefining challenges and opportunities
» Identify future opportunity areas with scientific/engineering impact (calls, our own initiatives).
» Develop research opportunities and specific proposals to engage the forest bioproducts industry and non-traditional partner industries [e.g., automotive, aerospace, biomedical…]
» Assess areas of technical strength (core strengths, area coverage, critical mass of core faculty and infrastructure, leadership for large scale proposals, gaps/weaknesses).
» Identify desirable teaming arrangements (internal/external) for developing initiatives, including areas of leadership versus areas of joining teams.
Determine opportunities to establish a leadership position in lignocellulosic research
