Nanostructured Metals for Sensing and Imaging Applications
Molecular Biophysics Seminar Series
This talk will provide a general overview of the different approaches that have been adopted to improve the performance of nanostructured metal-based sensors for clinical and non-clinical applications. The performance of nanometal-based sensors is improved by tailoring the properties of the metal/metal oxide nanostructures through engineering of morphology, composition, and surface functionality. These nanostructured metals are expected to find applications in bioimaging and miniaturized biosensing devices. The talk will cover aspects of nanomaterials synthesis and characterization methods, and will detail the bioanalytical mechanisms involved in the sensor applications.
