William H. Rogers, president and CEO of SunTrust Banks, will speak on campus on Wednesday, October 26. Addressing students, faculty, staff and interested community members, he will discuss "The Next Decade in Banking - Being Part of the Solution."

Bill Rogers is president and CEO of SunTrust Banks, Inc. As such, he is responsible for all aspects of the financial performance, corporate strategy and business operations of the company, as well as regulatory compliance, client service delivery and all staff support functions.

He assumed his current role in June 2011, having served as Chief Operating Officer since November 2010 and President since December 2008. Previously, he served as Corporate Executive Vice President with executive oversight responsibilities for Commercial Real Estate Banking, Corporate & Investment Banking, Mortgage, Treasury & Payments Solutions and Wealth and Investment Management.

Mr. Rogers began his career in 1980 in the commercial bank training program of Trust Company of Georgia, a SunTrust predecessor company. Throughout his career with SunTrust, he has held increasingly senior positions across the enterprise, including corporate and commercial banking, corporate finance, retail banking and mortgage banking.

 

About the Impact Speaker Series

Since 2002, the IMPACT Speaker Series has brought highly successful business leaders from a variety of industries to campus to share their experiences and give advice to students and other entrepreneurs on topics ranging from "building a venture around intellectual capital" to "successful entrepreneurship in large organizations" and "socially responsible leadership".

The weekly series provides Georgia Tech students, alumni and the Atlanta business community an opportunity to network and learn from successful entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and notable business and non-profit leaders. Events for the series take place in the LeCraw Auditorium in the College of Management building at 4:30 pm on Wednesdays unless otherwise noted.

The series is free and open to the public, and reservations are not required.
