"Challenges in America's Energy Future"

The Strategic Energy Institute, in conjunction with the Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering, is proud to host a lecture by Sindey Guitierrez, Director Nuclear Energy and Global Security, Sandia National Labs. The lecture will take place on Thursday, March 12 at 3:00 p.m. in MRDC Lecture Room 4211. The title of his talk will be "Challenges in America's Energy Future - the Role of Universities and National Laboratories".

Abstract
Our nation must become clear in defining outcomes that balance national security, environment and economic prosperity goals. These goals must lead to eliminating the strategic value of imported oil, must modernize and secure our energy production, distribution and transmission infrastructures, must transition our nation to a carbon-efficient economy and must accelerate innovation and technology insertion to meet the national need. The challenges we face are complex but not insurmountable. Universities and national laboratories, as incubators of innovation, have the unique opportunity to be major players in forging America
