DOE Computational Science Graduate Fellowship
Primary tabs
Application deadline: Thursday, January 7, 2027
The DOE Computational Science Graduate Fellowship (DOE CSGF) supports doctoral students pursuing research that advances computational science and high-performance computing. The program is funded by the DOE Office of Science and the National Nuclear Security Administration, and administered by the Krell Institute.
What the fellowship provides
- $45,000 annual stipend
- Full payment of tuition and fees
- A yearly academic allowance for professional development
- Renewable for up to four years
- A practicum of at least 12 weeks, usually during the summer, at a DOE national laboratory, working on multidisciplinary teams
Two application tracks
- Science and Engineering — for students using high-performance computing to address complex challenges in science and engineering.
- Mathematics and Computer Science — for students pursuing research in applied mathematics, statistics, or computer science that contributes to the effective use of emerging high-performance computing systems.
Eligibility
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
- The program seeks senior undergraduates and first-year graduate students. Students further along in a doctoral program are generally not the target audience.
- Recipients must be enrolled as full-time doctoral students.
