About the Talk:

Successful implementation of the Internet of Things for Manufacturing (IoTfM) requires strategic decisions about how manufacturing information is acquired, organized, shared, and used across the enterprise. This presentation will discuss the importance of strategy in IoTfM and how architectural decisions can affect long-term scalability and flexibility. In particular, it will explore the limitations of tightly coupled system integration and how decoupled digital architectures can provide a more sustainable foundation for connecting manufacturing systems and information. 

About the Speaker:

Andy Dugenske is a globally recognized expert in the Internet of Things (IoT) and manufacturing software who helps companies turn technology into impact. An entrepreneur, he has launched two successful, profitable manufacturing software companies and continues to serve as president of one. He has also led dozens of successful industry-funded projects as Director of the Factory Information Systems Center at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Dugenske chairs the annual international Internet of Things for Manufacturing Symposium, which draws hundreds of participants, and teaches graduate-level classes. He has published academic papers and is frequently invited to speak at conferences. Deeply involved in standards organizations and trade associations, he also co-developed two widely used ANSI communication standards—Computer Aided Manufacturing using XML (CAMX) and MTConnect—which are used in more than 50 countries.
