Dear Georgia Tech Students and Post-Docs,

We are excited to invite you to participate in the Inaugural COE-BME co-sponsored 2026 Biomedical STAR-AI Makerspace Hackathon designed to enable Georgia Tech next generation AI engineers and scientists to make Real-World Impact by Experiential Learning and Problem Solving. As the AI’s impact in healthcare unfolds, there is a need for Biomedical Safe, Trustworthy, Actionable, Responsible AI (STAR-AI).
 
Can you make it happen in 48 hours?
 
You are offered AI Makerspace from April 29 to May 10, 2026.
 
You can form a team here and choose up to two topics from four real-world biomedical AI challenges:
  • Multi-Agent Multimodal RAG for Radiology Decision Support
  • Robust Drug-Target Affinity for Precision Drug Discovery
  • Safe Clinical Reasoning Agents for EHR-Based Diagnosis
  • ICU Multi-Outcome Alarms for Critical Care Monitoring
Each team will submit a poster (template can be found here) and technical report by May 9, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST. Submissions will be evaluated by both industrial and academic judges.
On May 12, 2026 in the Parker H. Petit Institute for Bioengineering and Biosciences at Georgia Tech (Suddath Seminar Room 1128, 315 Ferst Dr NW, Atlanta, GA 30332), all teams will be invited to present their hackathon as a poster, and selected teams will make oral presentation. Winning teams will be invited to publish their results in peer‑reviewed AI conferences to showcase the result to the broader scientific community. Along with the Hackathon, AI Megatrend and Education topics will also be featured on May 12.
