2027-28 Fulbright-Nehru Fellowships for U.S. Citizens

Interested in conducting research or studying abroad in India? The Fulbright-Nehru Fellowships provide fully funded opportunities for U.S. students and scholars to engage in academic research, teaching, and professional development at leading institutions across India.

For the 2027–28 cycle, eligible applicants include graduating seniors, graduate students, and early-career professionals. The Student Research Fellowship supports nine months of independent research in India, while additional awards are available for faculty and professionals pursuing teaching or collaborative projects.

Projects are welcomed across all disciplines, with particular interest in areas such as artificial intelligence, public health, energy, cybersecurity, climate and sustainability, and other fields aligned with U.S.–India strategic priorities. Humanities and social science applicants are also encouraged to propose interdisciplinary or policy-relevant work.

Fulbright participants join a global network of scholars and benefit from immersive cultural exchange, mentorship, and professional development opportunities. Since its founding, the Fulbright Program has supported over 450,000 participants worldwide.
