Special Events, Protocol Office Hosts Workshop

Primary tabs

From handling VIPs to planning and executing “green” events, the information that will be covered in an upcoming workshop hosted by the Office of Institute Special Events and Protocol is what every campus event planner needs to know. “Anyone who is interested in or currently plans events on campus is invited,” said Laura Pusateri, special events manager and head of Institute Special Events and Protocol. “No matter how big or small your events are, you can benefit from learning more about how to plan a successful Georgia Tech event.” The annual workshop will be held on Aug. 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in room 222 of the Global Learning Center. Registration is available here or beginning at 8:30 a.m. the day of the event. The cost is $75, which includes lunch. In addition to the workshop, Pusateri and her team are available year round to assist members of the campus community with event planning. The office staff includes Pusateri, who has worked at Tech since 2007 and has planned events for the Ritz-Carlton and American Cancer Society; Serena Wallace, who most recently planned events for the Atlanta History Center and Rhodes Hall; and Tech student Casey Aultman. Although the team is primarily responsible for planning and executing high-level Institute events such as commencement, they are always available to provide   advice or assistance to employees needing help with events. “We welcome the opportunity to have a conversation with all of our campus partners and, from there, will determine the level of support for each on a case-by-case basis,” Pusateri added.  The office is also in the process of revamping its website. In the near future, the site will feature a discussion forum, showcase of exceptional Tech events, updates on policies, and a repository of objects and items available for rental. (Currently, Pusateri has table throws and pop-up banners available for campus use and will soon have generic Tech easel signs.)
