Flintknapping (stone tool making) Demonstration

Primary tabs

Join Darrell Ross, independent lithic scholar, and the "This is Archaeology" class for a hands-on demonstration of the stone tool production process. This informal session explores the deep history of lithic technology through the lens of experimental archaeology, a practice used to reconstruct and understand the behaviors of the past through modern replication. Faculty, staff, and students are invited to the back courtyard of the Old Civil Engineering (OCE) Building to observe the demonstration and engage in the "crashing of stones" alongside Ross and the class.

No RSVP is required; interested participants are encouraged to drop by the OCE courtyard at any time during the session to learn about the significance of lithic expertise in contemporary archaeological research.
