The Quality-by-Design framework is a systematic approach to product development that seeks to link the formulation to the manufacturing process through the effects of each on critical quality attributes. Here, we will discuss the selection of critical quality attributes for polymer-containing materials prepared through advanced manufacturing processes such as direct-ink-write additive manufacturing, Resonant Acoustic Mixing and electrospinning. We will also analyze links between material properties, processing parameters and the critical quality attributes.
