Primary tabs

The Georgia Tech Library and the Interdisciplinary Media Arts Center (IMA) are proud to present Media Arts Day 2026 on Thursday, January 29 from 10:00 AM–3:30 PM in the Scholars Event Theater (First Floor of Price Gilbert Library). The event is co-sponsored by the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts.

“Media Arts Day is the one day every year when people from across campus come together in the Library to celebrate the power of art and design to expand public consciousness around science and technology,” said Yanni Loukissas, Director of IMA.

The day begins at 10:00 AM with the panel Creative Technology in a Physical World, where Georgia Tech faculty discuss how digital and creative technologies interact with place, materiality, and time. Panelists include:

  • Dr. Heidi Biggs, Assistant Professor, School of Literature, Media, and Communication, whose work focuses on human-computer interaction, interaction design, and environmental sustainability in computing.
  • Dr. Alexandria Smith, Assistant Professor of Music, multimedia artist, and audio engineer whose interdisciplinary research explores music technology, embodiment, and interactive media systems.
  • Dr. Abigale Stangl, design researcher and Assistant Professor specializing in inclusive design, accessibility, tactile media, and disability-first innovation.

Media Arts Day 2026 invites attendees to engage with interdisciplinary perspectives and explore how creative practice and scholarship can reshape our understanding of technology’s role in society.
