Primary tabs
Join the Georgia Tech Library Thursday, Feb. 5 from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Scholars Event Theater, located on Price Gilbert Library’s first floor, for an exploration into rare astronomy books featuring star maps, comets, images of the moon, and more spanning three centuries of research into space.
This event features a conversation with Dr. John Christian, Associate Professor and Associate Chair for Graduate Programs in the School of Aerospace Engineering, and Instruction Archivist and Special Collections Curator Alison Reynolds discussing the intersections between rare books and science and why these works are important to our current understanding of astronomy.
From Galileo to galaxies, participants will have the opportunity to participate in a hands-on exploration of rare books from the Georgia Tech Library’s Archives and Special Collections to examine visual depictions of space and how technological advances inform our understanding of the stars.
