Through the Kaleidoscope: The Multicolor Music of Supermassive Black Holes

Primary tabs

The 2025 Gravitational Wave Physics and Astronomy Workshop (GWPAW) invites you to a public talk with Dr. Krista Lynne Smith of Texas A&M University. Her talk, “Through the Kaleidoscope: The Multicolor Music of Supermassive Black Holes,” examines how observations across many wavelengths and timescales are deepening our understanding of these extreme objects. She will discuss how black holes form and grow, how they consume material, how they launch relativistic jets, and how they influence the evolution of galaxies. Dr. Smith will also highlight how new multicolor, time-varying data — together with future observations using neutrinos and gravitational waves — is opening new windows into the nature of supermassive black holes.
