Call for Nominations: Ivan Allen Jr. Prize for Social Courage

Primary tabs

The Ivan Allen Jr. Prize for Social Courage is awarded to someone whose personal courage has positively affected public discourse and the quality of life and living for his or her community at the risk of his or her own career, livelihood or life. The Prize includes a $100,000 grant and is awarded in honor of Ivan Allen Jr., who was a pivotal national leader during America's struggle for racial integration during the 1960s. The Prize is made possible through a grant from the Wilbur and Hilda Glenn Family Foundation and was awarded last year to former Senator Sam Nunn.

Nominations are now being sought for review by the nominating committee composed of faculty, students and public members, to pass along to Georgia Tech President G. P. “Bud” Peterson for final selection. To nominate an individual for the Prize, please send an e-mail by July 20, 2011, identifying your candidate’s name and country of residence, and including a brief explanation in support of your candidate and your personal contact information to ivanallenprize@gatech.edu.
