Physics Nobel Prize Explained

Primary tabs

The 2025 Physics Nobel Prize was announced on October 7, 2025 and awarded to John Clarke, Michel H. Devoret and John M. Martinis "for the discovery of macroscopic quantum mechanical tunnelling and energy quantisation in an electric circuit." The Graduate Association of Physicists will host a public lecture led by Prof. Brian Kennedy from the Georgia Tech School of Physics on the research conducted by the Physics Nobel Prize recipients, what it means, and why it matters. The event is open to the public (undergraduate students, graduate students, post-docs, faculty, staff, general community), offering a learning opportunity to hear more about physics research and this year's Physics Nobel Prize.

The event will be held in Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons (CULC) Auditorium 144 on Monday, November 10 from 6:30pm-7:30pm. Professor Brian Kennedy from the Georgia Tech School of Physics will lead a discussion on the 2025 Physics Nobel Prize and what the research means at a level appropriate to the public.
