The New Calculus of Escalation with Martin Libicki

Primary tabs

Join the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs for a lunchtime talk with Martin Libicki on his new book, The New Calculus of Escalation.

Drawing on decades of experience in cybersecurity and national security research, Libicki will discuss how emerging technologies are reshaping the dynamics of conflict escalation in the 21st century. In this book, Libicki reexamines traditional thresholds between peace, conventional war, and nuclear conflict. He explores how cyber capabilities and other advanced military technologies blur these lines and complicate deterrence.

Libicki previously held the Keyser Chair of Cybersecurity Studies at the U.S. Naval Academy and has authored several influential works on cyberwar and information warfare, including Cyberspace in Peace and War and Conquest in Cyberspace.

Co-hosted with the Digital Issues Discussion Group (DIDG).
