EAS Seminar Series - Dr. Nagissa Mahmoudi

Primary tabs

Microorganisms are the unseen drivers of organic matter recycling in the oceans. Through their metabolic activity, they not only shape local ecosystems but also exert profound influence on global biogeochemical cycles. In this talk, I will highlight new insights gained from innovative isotopic approaches that trace how microbes process and transform organic matter. I will also discuss explore how the “dietary choices” of marine microbes have shaped both the evolution of Earth’s oceans and the trajectory of our planet’s climate.
