Provost Appoints New Chair of Library Faculty Advisory Board

Primary tabs

Provost Rafael L. Bras has appointed Haskell Beckham, a professor in the School of Materials Science and Engineering, chair of the Library Faculty Advisory Board (LFAB). In August, Beckham will assume the role from Ellen Zegura, a professor in the College of Computing

“Professor Beckham has served on the advisory board for two years and is an excellent choice for this position,” said Catherine Murray-Rust, dean and director of libraries. “He will be instrumental in facilitating collaboration between the Library and faculty members across campus.”

The 20-member LFAB was created in fall 2007 to encourage communication between Institute faculty members and the Library. Topics discussed at recent meetings include scholarly communications, open access and the integration of the G. Wayne Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons with the Library.

“I look forward to working with the other members of the board, Dean Murray-Rust and the library staff as we continue our work to enhance faculty engagement in library operations and programs,” Beckham said.
