Doctors Without Borders DIY Scrub Event: Self-Care & Global Health
Primary tabs
Students will create their own DIY body scrub soap using natural ingredients, which serves as a creative and hands-on entry point for discussing health and wellness practices around the world. The event will include a brief educational presentation focusing on health care systems, cultural practices, and major public health challenges in two key regions: East Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. The goal is to expose students to how health and wellness are approached differently across cultures, while also addressing global health disparities.
We will also tie in the work of Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières) by highlighting a few countries where the organization is currently active. Selected examples include South Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Afghanistan, and parts of East Asia, where issues such as access to clean water, infectious disease, maternal health, and mental health services remain urgent concerns.
