ABSTRACT
This talk explores the lessons learned over a decade after grad school - insights into setting life priorities, embracing adaptability, and redefining success beyond job titles and paychecks. The session will cover practical skills like networking, interviewing, and cultivating soft skills, alongside reflections on a nonlinear career path. It will also highlight how digital tools such as Notion and GPT can serve as a “second brain” to track not just ideas but also emotions, creative endeavors, and projects. Beyond professional applications, the talk will show how AI is now part of the speaker's everyday life - from creating coloring pages to organizing recipe collections. The talk is designed to be interactive and conversation focused, bring your curiosity and questions!
BIO
Tanu Thote, a Georgia Tech BME PhD alum has a decade of experience spanning product development, strategy consulting and medical affairs. She began her career in product development at 3M before transitioning into life sciences consulting, where she supported cross-functional teams on launch strategy. Since 2018, Tanu has served as a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) across multiple therapeutic areas at various companies including neurology, psychiatry, ophthalmology, and advanced wound care, working with leading specialists to support clinical trials, medical education, and scientific exchange. Beyond her industry work, Tanu recently completed a cozy fantasy novel during a 6 month sabbatical. She likes rock climbing, traveling, reading, cooking and training her Belgian Malinois puppy. She lives with her husband (Prof. Ambar Kulkarni) and her dog (Kazu) in Sacramento, CA.
