Event Overview
Designing an Ecosystem of Resources to Foster AI Literacy
As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly integrated into daily life, individuals must navigate critical decisions about its role in both personal and societal contexts. Duri Long, an assistant professor in the Department of Communication Studies at Northwestern University, will explore strategies for fostering AI literacy and public agency in this insightful webinar.
Long's research focuses on developing a comprehensive ecosystem of learning experiences to enhance AI understanding across diverse audiences, from middle school students to journalists. Using a design research approach, she examines how creativity, embodied interaction, and constructionist learning experiences contribute to grasping key AI concepts.
During the webinar, Long will present ongoing research initiatives, including:
- The design of museum exhibits, unplugged activities, and interactive tools to support AI literacy among middle school students.
- Web-based platforms that engage adult learners in interactive AI education.
- Resources tailored to assist journalists in effectively communicating AI-related topics to the public.
By integrating these varied approaches, Long aims to cultivate a more informed public capable of making critical decisions about AI implementation in both private and public spheres.
