event
Workshop | Multimodal sub-micron IR (O-PTIR) Spectroscopy
Primary tabs
Host: Walter Henderson, Associate Director, Materials Characterization Facility
Guest speaker: Asst. Prof Ayanjett Ghosh, Department of chemistry and biochemistry, University of Alabama
Presenter: Jay Anderson, Director of Sales for the Americas, Photothermal Spectroscopy Corp
Lunch and Learn Monday March 31st
Introduction to submicron IR (O-PTIR) with a review of current IR and Raman limitations and how O-PTIR overcomes these, new O-PTIR advances, and examples of O-PTIR applications across a range of application areas with question-and-answer period.
O-PTIR overcomes many limitations of IR and Raman microscopes:
- <500nm IR spatial resolution, over 30x better IR spatial resolution than FTIR
- FTIR Transmission-like spectra without distortions or artifacts.
- Non-contact technique
- Chemical imaging of particles of a few micrometers
- Identification of <20 µm microplastics
- Live cell imaging; hydrated/dry tissue imaging
- Combined with simultaneous Raman to provide a more thorough analysis
- Combined with widefield fluorescence imaging for co-located O-PTIR measurements or widefield-PTIR
Lunch will be provided for registered attendees. Please park in the visitor parking area 5 on State Street. If you have any questions about the technique, workshop or sample measurement, please email: jay@photothermal.com
Live demos
Photothermal Spectroscopy Corp will be available on campus April 1-3rd for live demos of the mIRage system. The mIRage-LS uses the breakthrough technique of Optical Photothermal Infrared (O-PTIR) spectroscopy. O-PTIR is being used for a wide range of application areas and has led to many recent publications in high impact factor journals for researchers in various fields. If you'd like to submit a sample for demo, select 'Yes' when booking your ticket for this event, and we'll reach out to you.
