WST Distinguished Lecture: Dr. Kerry Ann O'Meara

     On Thursday, March 27, 2025, Dr. Kerry Ann O'Meara, Professor of Higher Education, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Provost, and Dean of the Teachers College, Columbia University, will present the annual Women, Science, and Technology Distinguished Lecture, in Press Rooms A & B, Student Success Center.
.    The title of her lecture is "Perils and Power of Discretion in Higher Education: Hiring, Workload, and Evaluation."
     Dr. O'Meara's research addresses systems of recruitment, retention, and advancement of faculty for the full participation of women and racial minorities. She has published over 170 peer reviewed articles, books, monographs, book chapters, and other types of publications. Prior to joining Columbia University in 2023, Dr. O'Meara was Professor of Higher Education, Distinguished Scholar Teacher, and Special Assistant to the Provost and to the President for Strategic Initiatives at the University of Maryland. She was elected to and served as the President of the Association of Higher Education (ASHE) in 2020, and was chosen as a 2021-2022 American Council on Education (ACE) Fellow.
     A reception will follow the lecture.
