EAS Seminar Series - Dr. Yanxu Zhang

Primary tabs

Abstract: This talk explores the global dynamics of mercury and plastics, highlighting their environmental persistence, human health risks, and interactions with climate change. It examines the major pathways through which these pollutants move across atmospheric, terrestrial, and aquatic systems, and how climate variability amplifies their impacts. Using advanced Earth System Models, I investigate the transport and fate of these persistent contaminants to better understand their complex behavior. By addressing their sources, transport, and accumulation, this presentation underscores the urgent need for multidisciplinary strategies to mitigate their effects on ecosystems and societies in a warming world.
