Join Science & Technology Policy Connections as we host Mayor Michael Owens to speak on cyber & defense policy! This event will take place Friday, March 29th from 5:30pm - 6:30pm in Scheller College of Business 101.

Michael Owens, a dynamic and visionary leader, is the first elected Mayor of Mableton and is a driving force behind the positive transformation of our community. With a deep commitment to public service and a strong track record of community involvement, Mayor Owens is poised to guide Mableton to new heights of progress and prosperity. Throughout his career, Michael has been driven by public service and has been a leader in his community. In 2013, Michael launched the South Cobb Voter Empowerment Project to inform and empower citizens across South Cobb by connecting them to the issues and people that affect local issues the most. From 2016 to 2019, Michael served as the innovative, ground-breaking Chairman of the Democratic Party of Cobb County. He is a graduate of Leadership Cobb Class of 2017 and Leadership Georgia Class of 2018. He is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he served eight years on active and reserve duty with training in communications, engineering, and counter-terrorism after attending recruit training at Parris Island and Officers Candidate School in Quantico, Va. After completing his tour of duty and an undergraduate degree in technology, Michael launched his cybersecurity career. He led technology and data protection projects in over 100 countries in industries including finance, healthcare, government, and airline, before launching his own business.
