Quantum Networking with GKP Qubits

Primary tabs

Light is well known to be an attractive platform to realize quantum information technologies. Among the different ways that are known to encode a qubit in light, the Gottesman-Kitaev-Preskill (GKP) qubits are special in that they possess inherent error correction properties against photon loss and thermal noise. This makes them an excellent choice for both quantum computing and quantum networking. In this talk, we will focus on the latter, and discuss quantum repeaters and quantum switches for an entanglement distribution network based on a novel scheme involving optical GKP qubits, graph states, and multiplexing. We will conclude with a brief discussion on optical GKP qubit generation and the associated overheads.
