The Black Market: The Achievement Pitch

Primary tabs

The Achievement Pitch (TAP) is a student-based business pitch competition to address, as a primary or secondary element, social and environmental challenges in communities of color while encouraging and advancing entrepreneurship among college students. It involves creating, submitting, and presenting original, innovative content in business and social venture concepts. Plans will be presented to a panel of judges for evaluation based on a) content and concept, b) impact on a community of color, and c) venture viability. Two (2) monetary awards totaling $3,750 will be granted.

DMM and Delta Kappa (DK) Chapters are partnering with The Black Market, a student organization on the campus of Georgia Tech, to assist in promoting and implementing the inaugural TAP to its students. Synergies exist between the purpose of TAP and The Black Market, as their core purpose is “to foster a community for black students to develop entrepreneurial experiences and create companies.” Additionally, Georgia Tech has a strong culture of innovation; however, limited funding opportunities to support social and minority ventures. DMM marries capital and structure with The Black Market’s purpose and access to make for an advantageous initiative that benefits the students, specifically African Americans, not only at Georgia Tech but across metro Atlanta colleges and universities.
