College of Sciences and College of Engineering: Mathematics and Computer Science Symposium

Primary tabs

We are pleased to announce our first annual math and computer science symposium on the topic of introduction to machine learning. If you are interested in incorporating machine learning into your research, but are new to mathematics and computer science, this is the conference for you! This symposium is designed to expose non-cs major researcher to machine learning applications in a low-stress environment.

We have been working on this conference since last summer to address a need for machine learning education for non-CS graduate students who want to understand how they can incorporate machine learning in their work in a 'low-stress' environment. We know how hard it can be to get into the right course for ML and then sometimes the coursework can be irrelevant to your research application. We are hoping to bridge this gap for students who are new to machine learning and computer science generally. The course will start from the basics of computing in python and build up to an overview of machine learning over the course of one day.
