Alternative game controllers offer a rich space for exploring design to support a wide variety of play activities. My work centers on the use of creative sense-making as a lens with which to understand collaborative play with unusual embodied interfaces. I postulate that understanding the relationship between the physical affordances of alternative controllers and the creative sense-making patterns of players can yield new insights into designing games and controllers for collaboration in playful interaction.
