The Spring 2022 OSE Seminar Series w. Invited Speaker Dr. Susan Lozier
Primary tabs
Meridional Overturning in the North Atlantic:
What we know, what we don’t and why we should care
The OSNAP (Overturning in the Subpolar North Atlantic Program) observing system, in place since 2014, provides a continuous record of the full-water column, trans-basin fluxes of heat, mass and freshwater in the subpolar North Atlantic. The first six-years of this time series have revealed surprising results on the mean and variability of the overturning circulation in the subpolar North Atlantic. In my talk I will review these results and discuss how they have reframed the investigation of climate variability in the North Atlantic.
