Zinman Contributes Essay to Whitney Museum of American Art

Primary tabs

Gregory Zinman, associate chair and associate professor in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication, contributed an essay on the first use of video by an artist to the Whitney Museum of American Art.

The artistic piece Zinman uses in his analysis, Outer and Inner Space (1965) by Andy Warhol, was Warhol’s first double-screen film, a style which became highly prevalent in his later years of cinema. Zinman’s essay is part of The Films of Andy Warhol Catalogue Raisonné, 1963–1965, edited by John G. Hanhardt.

This new volume follows the first catalogue raisonné, Andy Warhol Screen Tests: The Films of Andy Warhol Catalogue Raisonné, Volume 1, written by the late film scholar and Warhol authority Callie Angell. The first volume was published in 2006 and gained wide critical acclaim.
