Fostering a collaborative approach to problem solving, researchers are helping to ensure safer, more reliable, and affordable supplies of energy to meet needs now and in the future.

The economy, environment and our national security are inextricably intertwined with our energy decisions. Achieving a more secure energy future in an environment of rapidly rising global demand and competition for energy resources from developing countries, increasing instability in energy producing regions such as the Middle East, and growing environmental concerns, will require countries to more closely examine the implications of policy decisions at all levels of government – local regional, national and global – and develop more integrated and effective global strategies.
