A New Blog from SEI

Primary tabs

Energy is one of the most significant issues for our civilization. With more than seven billion people populating the planet, access to affordable, accessible and sustainable energy is critical. More companies and organizations are working to not only conserve energy but to find solutions to national and global energy challenges.

Finding and developing those solutions will require creativity, innovation, research, and collaboration between businesses, government, laboratories, and academia. Which just happens to be why the Strategic Energy Institute here at Georgia Tech was developed.

The Strategic Energy Institute facilitates the integration and execution of programs, events, and activities that encourage energy research and development. By engaging the best and brightest minds from industry, government, and academia, we are poised to foster innovative solutions to current and future energy challenges.

In order to assist with achieving this mission, the Strategic Energy Institute, in conjunction with the Energy Policy and Innovation Center, hosted a successful energy industry conference in the Spring of 2017 which explored the future of energy and the subsequent effects on society. The INTERSECT conference was attended by more than 200 invitation-only energy industry professionals who participated in lively discussions that explored innovative solutions to a myriad of challenges. Our guests, panelists, and participants represented major corporations, progressive non-government organizations, renowned research laboratories, and highly-respected academic institutions.

In order to continue these conversations and share these views with a broader public, we are launching a blog series with entries from a few of our INTERSECT partners. WalMart, The Home Depot, and United Parcel Service – just to name a few – will share over the coming months what their organizations are doing on a leadership level to ensure future generations have access to clean, renewable energy and a sustainable planet.

Together, we can ensure that the development of a clean and diverse portfolio of energy resources remain at the forefront of the national conversation.
