The Beaux Arts Ball is a costume ball dating back as early as the late 19th century originating in the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, or the School of Fine Arts in Paris, France. The first Balls saw elaborately designed allegorical floats circle the room of the Ecole at midnight, later to be judged by a panel of design critics. Such rituals influenced the Fathers of Modernism in New York City as they held similar Balls that they attended dressed up as the very buildings they designed. The Beaux Arts Ball comes back to Atlanta as Georgia Tech AIAS, in cooperation with Georgia Tech's School of Architecture, presents the "Theater of Imagination" Masquerade. Bring out your best masque and enjoy the festivities.
