Abstract: The objective of this research is to realize high-performance origami-inspired reconfigurable and deployable microwave devices for 5G and mm-wave applications utilizing additive manufacturing techniques. Toward the proposed research objective, new origami-inspired structures with small form factor, exceptional tunability and foldability will be designed to expand the applicable scenarios for 5G and mm-wave applications. To realize these designs with additive manufacturing methods, a new fabrication process that combines 3D printing and inkjet printing technique will be developed. The development of new fabrication process includes broadband electrical characterization of materials, improve surface roughness and adhesion of the 3D printed substrate, as well as metallize the surface with 3D patterns.
